Ideal Candidates
Candidates for injections with neuromodulators are concerned with facial fine lines and wrinkles, such as crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines between the eyebrows, but do not want or need surgery.
Procedure
Once we have examined you, ice or a topical anesthetic will be applied to the treatment area for your comfort. The injections will be made strategically into the small facial muscles that are causing your fine lines and wrinkles. Treatment can usually be completed in about 30 minutes.
BOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX® Cosmetic is the most well-known neuromodulator and is used to smooth out crow’s feet, horizontal forehead wrinkles, and vertical lines between the eyebrows.
XEOMIN®
XEOMIN® was developed to treat vertical frown lines between the eyebrows. The formulation is purer because unnecessary proteins have been removed.
Dysport®
Dysport® is used to treat moderate-to-severe glabellar lines (wrinkles between the brows) and may show results within two to three days.
Recovery and Results
There is no downtime associated with neuromodulator injections, although you may experience some redness, swelling, and bruising at the injection sites. These symptoms typically dissipate within about a week. You should avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours after your injections to help prevent headaches.
Some patients notice an immediate smoothing effect, but most begin to see results within four to seven days. Results last for approximately three months, after which your treatment will need to be repeated for long-term effects. Many patients have reported that their results last longer after subsequent treatments.
Xeomin
Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA) is an FDA-approved prescription medication that is injected into the muscles to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows (the glabellar lines).
When we squint or frown, the muscles between our eyebrows shrink in size. This causes the skin to fold over and lose some of its elasticity when this happens repeatedly over time, leading to persistent frown lines.
The active ingredient in this medication is Botulinum toxin type A, which acts on nerve endings in muscles to prevent the muscle fibers from contracting. By reducing these contractions, Xeomin can temporarily reduce the lines between your eyebrows.
This treatment is only available for women and men over the age of 21.
What Can I Expect During Xeomin Treatments?
At The Beautx, we will inject Xeomin into the muscles in your forehead. No anesthesia will be needed, but we will use a topical anesthetic or cold pack to reduce any discomfort you might feel. The procedure usually lasts about 10-20 minutes.
When Can I Expect to See Results*?
In as early as 3-4 days after the treatment, you may begin to see visible smoothing.* Results usually last up to 3 months, but for some of our clients, results has lasted significantly longer or shorter.*
